Foolish promises

If you are enough of a Bible geek you know the story of the Old Testament character who made a foolish promise to sacrifice first thing that came out of his house as an offering to the Lord.

Then his daughter ran out to greet him.

Some commentators have approached that by saying that she was simply going to be dedicated as a Temple Virgin.

But in today's reading, this passage from Leviticus sure seems to imply that she would need to be killed...?

Ouch.
